Growth Groups
We intend for everyone in our church to be connected with a Growth Group, either through a specific home study or in the context of volunteer ministry. Everyone will have an identifiable group for friendship, caring and ministry.
Our theme verse is Ephesians 4:12, “To prepare (equip), God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up”.
We believe the ideal environment for spiritual transformation and extending the love of Christ to others happens through a community of people similar to the size that Jesus initiated when He picked twelve disciples. The best things happen in groups!
GROWTH GROUPS CHARACTERISTICS
- A variety of groups will occur: intergenerational, couples groups, same gender adult groups, high school groups and even small groups for children—-and task oriented groups.
- Practical Christian Living I & II will be the foundation for many start-up groups. This is an interactive format studying the basic doctrines and principles of developing a personal relationship with Christ that are vital to healthy growth wherever you are in your spiritual journey. This will be an excellent 10-week investment of your time.
- “Digging Deeper” into the message of the previous Sunday using the Pastors study notes and interactive, reflective questions
- Discovering and development of spiritual gifts will be emphasized
- Caring for one another
- Serving needs outside of the group with a heart of mercy (i.e., Salem Pregnancy Center, Senior Home, Union Gospel Mission, a project for one of our supported missionaries, Habitat for Humanity, Angel Tree, etc.)
- Meeting primary spiritual growth needs of prayer, fellowship, Bible study, communion, accountability, follow-up, and evangelism
- Maintaining a vital connection with New Harvest Church
