I read about this recently – “The residence of a Florida apartment building awoke to a terrifying site outside their windows. The ground beneath the street in front of their building had literally collapsed, creating a massive depression the Floridians call a sinkhole. Tumbling into the ever-deepening pit with automobiles, pavement, sidewalks and lawn furniture, the building itself would obviously be the next to go. ‘Sinkholes occur,’ scientists say, ‘when underground streams drain away during seasons of drought, causing the ground at the surface to lose its underlying support suddenly. Everything simply caves in, leaving people with a frightening suspicion that nothing – not even the earth beneath their feet – is trustworthy.” That is an illustration of many lives in our world today. Under the surface of what we do day-to-day is a weakening of the interior life of many believers. For a while we can pretend that we are doing just fine, but the erosion has already started. The message this Sunday is to address the importance of your interior life. It is God’s design that your inner-world of spiritual growth is purposed to govern the outer world of your activity. So get ready to answer the question, “how is your inner life?” because spiritual growth and inner strength go hand in hand.
